Description
Made of beautiful walnut, this folding flap table is a perfect exemple of folding furniture.
It rests on four columns with smooth shafts and a square base, connected by an X-shaped strut on five flattened ball feet.
The central foot, turned into a baluster, is a counter point to the strict lines of the columns.
The table top is formed by a panel surrounded by a mitre-cut frame. On each side, a hinged flap in the shape of an arc of a circle is fixed. On the reverse side, an ingenious sliding system allows the flaps to be held open, while four cleats keep them folded.
Thanks to this system of flaps, this elegant square table becomes a beautiful round table. This makes it a useful and decorative piece of furniture.
The refinement of the assembly of a perfect quality of execution illustrates the sober refinement typical of the second French Renaissance.
