This beautiful cassone in walnut wood, elegantly carved and molded, rests on two scrolled feet typically Venetian.<\/p>\n

Rectangular, this cassone opens with a flap molded with fleuron shells. Below a belt presents a frieze of palmettes.<\/p>\n

The front of the cassone offers a decoration of two grotesques on the prominent uprights framing a long central panel further back bordered by a molding of shells reminiscent of that of the top of the chest.<\/p>\n

The low cornice is crowned with a large frieze of ovoids with acanthus leaves at the corners.<\/p>\n

The sides are soberly centered with wrought iron handles for transporting the cassone containing the owner’s effects when traveling to his various homes.<\/p>\n
