The andirons owe their name to their form : at the origin, was that of small dogs (\u2018chien<\/em>\u2019 in french) or squatting animals which gave first \u2018chi\u00e9net<\/em>\u2019 or \u2018chiennet<\/em>\u2019 then \u2018chenet<\/em>\u2019.
\nThese small two very refined andirons were probably disposed in the chimney of a bedroom.<\/p>\n

Their decor consists of a female bust crowned supporting an elegant top. On both sides, a fantastic animal with an open mouth coils on its own scales body.<\/p>\n
