These elements undoubtedly came from a much larger set constituting an altarpiece.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each wooden panel presents different biblical scenes :<\/span><\/p>\n

The first two panels focus on the life of the Virgin Mary with the representation of the Annunciation on the left and the Assumption on the right.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the last two panels, three evangelists are represented : Saint Matthew on the left with the man as a symbol, in the center, truncated, Saint John with the eagle and on the right, Saint Luke, a bull at his feet.<\/span><\/p>\n
