Il appartenait \u00e0 la dynastie des P\u0159emyslides qui r\u00e9gn\u00e8rent sur la Boh\u00eame du d\u00e9but du Xe si\u00e8cle jusqu\u2019en 1306.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Il serait mort en 929 ou 935 assassin\u00e9 sur ordre de son fr\u00e8re qui souhaitait devenir duc \u00e0 sa place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><strong>Il est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la christianisation du pays ce qui lui a valu d\u2019\u00eatre canonis\u00e9. Il est l\u2019un des saints patrons de la Boh\u00eame et de la Moravie. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Le duc est ici repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans une attitude tr\u00e8s hanch\u00e9e sur un petit socle rocheux. Il se dresse, \u00e9l\u00e9gamment v\u00eatu d\u2019un haincelin (houppelande courte) \u00e0 plis gironn\u00e9s et \u00e0 collet montant, la ceinture tombant bas sur les hanches. Un manteau ample repose sur ses \u00e9paules, retenu par une agrafe. Les plis du drap\u00e9 tombent en cascade sur son c\u00f4t\u00e9 gauche.
