Description
In the tradition of tables supported by trestles, Spanish carpentry created from the 16th century a significant type of table.
They consist of a solid board, assembled, on the reverse, with two transverse crosspieces by a long dovetail.
The flared legs imitating the trestles. are fixed on the crosspieces, Their base is cut into an ogee. Their simplicity and the rigid appearance of the lines are typical of the still-primitive models.
Two iron crosspieces, straight and ringed in their center, connect them to the back of the board.
The table features a thick, beautifully patinated solid walnut top.
This model, simple and elegant, and well proportioned, has come down to us in very good condition.
